Lighting for Real Estate

Real Estate Photo With Good LightingI have been working in the real estate video production market for about 15 years now and I love a home that has good quality lighting, it helps sell the home, & makes my job that much easier to work with.

One time I was working on a luxury condo in Toronto, everything in the condo was top notch each room was just beautiful but when I got to the kitchen it looked great but the under cabinet lighting was a yellowish-green light in the camera but looked ok to the eye, so we had to shut them off & the homeowner wanted them on but I had to show them it was not looking good at all in-camera & that was hard for them to understand because they spend a lot of money in that kitchen which is understandable when you want to show off everything.

if you put cheap lighting in a luxury home it will show up cheap, also something to think about is to try not to mix up your lighting too much, some lights will show almost blue while some will look orange & it needs to be balanced, I would think when buying lighting for your home look for something on the warmer side, it will give it that cozy feeling, if you go too white or even blue it will feel cold, you could use blue lighting for maybe some accent lighting like you might see in the background in some YouTubers studio, it just depends on what you are going for.

you can not put lipstick on a pig & say that is a model, likewise, if you invest in lighting & know how to use it, it will work for you, even if the room does not look all that good, lighting really helps but not all light is the same.

Please take a look at the video below, it will help you get a bit of an understanding of how lighting works & looks.

If you’re looking to create a professional-looking video, good lighting is essential, and not just any lighting will do. Watch this video from

Lighting for your Video Production

Video Studio Production Lighting

There’s so much to lighting than just putting the switch on, there’s mood lighting, how do you want to feel? what kind of environment do you want to be in? do you want to relax or do you want to feel energized?

it is the same for the video production your trying to create what is the feeling you’re trying to convey, movie production companies invest a lot of money just on that alone, they bring in experts that know everything about lighting, so it can feel such a way that when editing the footage it isn’t that hard to work with & save time so they can make more money

imagine watching a romantic movie with strobe lights on, sounds funny right but the movie probably will not do so well

it doesn’t matter what type of video production you are trying to create like an interview or a promo video it all needs good lighting otherwise your project will look cheap & feel cheap

If you have a project you want to get done & you have a very little budget then you need to look at ways to cut what you don’t need & to be flexible so your project can still get out there

If you really want to get into it here is a link that gives some history & what is light to understand it a lot more than what you see
